Some scriptures sear into your soul.
Two come to mind quickly: “…Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not
consumed, for his compassions never fail, they are new every morning, great is
thy faithfulness (Lamentations: 3:22-23).
And so “…do not tremble, do not be afraid… [for] there is a God beside [you]…there
is… [a] Rock…” [beneath you] (Isaiah 44:8).
Contrary to popular opinion, the
largest rock monolith in the world is not the Rock of Gibraltar, but Uluru
Rock, better known as Ayres Rock, in Australia ’s famed outback. Towering 1,142 feet high -- 2.2 miles long --
and 1.2 miles wide, Ayres Rock is also the world’s most stable rock, since most
of its mass is underground. But Ayres
Rock’s most striking aspect is its vibrant color, for no matter the time of
day, or season, Ayres Rock is always an array of purple, orange, grey, yellow
-- lighting up the sky! But Ayres Rock’s
most striking color comes at sunrise or sunset, for at sunrise and sunset Ayres
Rock glows with the most spectacular red
ever – reminding all – that because Ayres Rock is rock solid -- Ayres Rock
lifts and inspires -- renewing and refreshing life.
As we approach the Cross this Lenten season, it too glows red! For the God in Christ who hangs there, is
rock solid -- lifting and inspiring, renewing and refreshing, life. For the God in Christ who hangs there -- shed
blood for us, red blood for us – to
seal for us – His faithfulness and His commitment -- His love and His loyalty.
See the love and loyalty of God! Amid the outback of your life, see God
towering high, through the ultimate monolith – the rock of ages – the old
rugged Cross – Jesus the Christ! Let God’s rock-solid loyalty -- inspire
rock-solid loyalty in you.
Oh, it might not appear that
way at the moment – but listen: no matter what’s overwhelming you –
believe: “…because of the Lord’s great love -- [you] are not
consumed, for his compassions never fail, they are new every morning -- great
is thy faithfulness (Lamentations: 3:22-23).
And so “…do not tremble, do not be afraid…[for] there is a God beside [you]…there is…[a] Rock…[beneath you]” (Isaiah 44:8) – that’s glowing red – lifting
and inspiring – renewing and refreshing -- all of life – including – in a very tender way -- in a very committed way -- your life!
